Learnado — Privacy Policy

Learnado is operated by the developer of the app (“we”, “us”). For any privacy question or request, contact lancec20060614@gmail.com.

Account information

• Email address — used as the login identifier.
• Password — stored only as a secure one-way hash. Nobody, including us, can read it.
• Full name — shown on the student’s own profile and to classmates on the leaderboard.
• Date of birth and gender — optional. Gender defaults to “Prefer not to say” and may be left as such.

Learning activity

• Which lessons and questions you have completed, and your scores and star ratings.
• Answer history used for spaced repetition (which questions to review and when).
• Progress and motivation data: XP, streaks, hearts, gems, league, and achievements.
• A record of XP and gem changes, kept so balances can be audited and corrected.
• Milestones (for example “7-day streak”) and the 👍 / 🌟 reactions you send or receive.
• The date you were last active.

What we do not collect

• No location data.
• No contacts, photos, microphone or camera access.
• No advertising identifiers, and no cross-app or cross-site tracking.
• No free-text messaging between students — reactions are fixed, positive-only buttons with no comments.

To create and secure your account; to save your progress across devices; to show your own statistics and your class leaderboard; to decide which questions to review next; and to let teachers at your school see how their class is progressing. We do not use this information for advertising or profiling.

• You — all of your own information.
• Classmates — students at your own school can see your name, XP, league and milestones on the leaderboard and classmates feed. Students at other schools cannot see you at all; this is enforced by the database itself, not only by the app.
• Your school’s teachers and administrators — can see the names, email addresses and learning progress of students at their own school, in order to support teaching. They cannot see students at other schools.
• Us — we can access data where necessary to operate, support and troubleshoot the service.

• Supabase hosts our database, authentication and file storage. Account and learning data is stored on their infrastructure. They process it on our instructions only.
• jsDelivr (CDN)is used once to download the mathematics and chemistry typesetting library that renders formulas. No personal data is sent; as with any web request, the CDN necessarily sees the device’s IP address. The files are then cached on the device and used offline.

We do not use any advertising, analytics, attribution or crash-reporting services.

Learnado is designed for school students, and we expect many users to be minors. Accounts are normally created and issued by the school, which decides which students take part. Where a school issues accounts, it acts as the party responsible for obtaining any consent required under local law and school policy.

We deliberately limit what children can do and share: there is no free-text chat, no profile photos, no public profile, no friend requests from strangers, and no way to see or contact students outside your own school. Peer interaction is limited to fixed, positive-only reactions.

If you believe a child has provided information without appropriate consent, contact us at lancec20060614@gmail.com and we will delete it.

• Delete your account— open the app, go to Profile, and choose “Delete Account”. This permanently removes your account and all associated learning data, and cannot be undone.
• Change your name or password — from the Profile screen.
• Access or correct your data — students issued an account by a school can ask their teacher, or contact us directly.
• Under Hong Kong’s Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, and comparable laws elsewhere, you may request access to or correction of your personal data. Write to us at lancec20060614@gmail.com.

We keep your account and learning data for as long as the account exists. When an account is deleted — by the student in the app, or by their school administrator — the account and its learning data are removed from our systems. Routine encrypted backups may retain copies for a short period before being overwritten.

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored on managed infrastructure. Passwords are stored only as one-way hashes. Access to school data is restricted at the database level, so a student or teacher cannot read another school’s data even if they attempt to bypass the app. No system can be guaranteed perfectly secure, but we design access controls to fail closed.

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes affecting how student data is used will also be communicated to participating schools.
